Nilsu Demirel

Nilsu Demirel is an award-winning multidisciplinary artist and filmmaker. She completed her undergraduate studies at İhsan Doğramacı Bilkent University and is currently pursuing an MA in Time-Based Media at Kunstuniversität Linz in Austria. Her practice explores emotional decay, fragmented identity, and reimagined literary narratives through experimental moving images. By combining found footage, layered soundscapes, and tactile materials, she creates immersive visual worlds that examine intimacy, isolation, and the tension between reality and imagination.

Her debut film, The Fig Tree, received the Best Experimental Film Award at the Yale Student Film Festival. The film has been screened and recognized at numerous national and international festivals, including the Student Academy Awards, which qualifies films for consideration for an Academy Award nomination.
